The Recluse – Winner of The Viita Prize 2024

The Viita Prize is a major award given for an original composition in music or drama, with the aim of fostering creativity. The competition is open annually to all members of the current Sixth and Lower Eighth Forms.

This generous prize is only awarded to outstanding pieces of work and so is not necessarily awarded every year. Work must be written with live performance in mind, and winning pieces of music/ plays are then performed at SPS with full technical support. The submitted works are assessed by adjudicators from the professional music and drama fields.

This year’s Viita Prize winning play is The Recluse, written and directed by Theo Frankel (Lower Eighth).

Three siblings become trapped in a mysterious hotel. As they navigate their confined surroundings, tensions escalate dangerously between them. Events take an unexpected turn when they think they’ve found a way out, but soon personalities conflict and truths are revealed, suggesting relations between the three may never be the same again…

Performances take place at 7:30pm on Thursday the 23rd and Friday the 24th of May in the Milton Studio, and will last approximately 45 minutes (no interval). After the performance, complimentary drinks will be served in our riverside foyer.

Tickets are £5 and available to purchase via our online booking system .

Alternatively, pupils can scan the QR code on the posters around school and apply for a ticket via the google form, allowing the price of the ticket to be charged directly to their student account.
